Understanding the Drought Situation
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has declared that the Colorado River will remain in a Tier 1 shortage for 2026. This designation means Arizona will face an 18% reduction in its annual water allocation. Despite this reduction, Glendale has prepared for such shortages and assures residents that the city’s water needs will continue to be met without disruption.
Glendale’s Proactive Measures
To address the ongoing drought, Glendale has undertaken several initiatives:
- Diverse Water Portfolio: The city has secured a robust water portfolio that includes renewable surface water, groundwater, and reclaimed water supplies.
